COLLEGE FOOTBALL - WEEK 4

COLLEGE FOOTBALL - WEEK 4

TOB is back from tanning his cheeks in Mexico, ready to watch some college football!  Not a whole lot to report on from last week since apparently in Mexico none of the local affiliates of ESPN or FOX carry College Football.  In our resort’s “sportsbar” known as Strikers we were watching various soccer matches as well as motocross.  Motocross is really interesting for about 5 minutes then it seems like the same thing over and over.  Just kidding, it’s not interesting from the start (apologizes to B. Mild).

Some teams/players/situations of note:

Oklahoma:  Turns out they are better off without “Big Game Bob”

USC:  Sam Darnold is looking good, but why did they have to go to OT with a garbage Texas team???

Clemson:  Probably the best team in the country.  We could be set for Bama/Clemson III – starting to look like the Cavs / Warriors rivalry.  Wonder if Kevin Durant wants to go play for Bama next season.

LSU:  Coach Ed is racing Kevin Sumlin for that chair on the pregame show…

Mizzou:  Well, we now know what would happen if you pour gasoline on a dumpster fire…full of aerosol cans…

Now for the segment that Vegas is trying to get TOB to stop running, Tony and Cheech make picks sure to go wrong!

Last weeks results:

Cheech (11-4) – On Fire!

Air Force (+23.5) over Michigan, I'm on the "Michigan is overrated" bandwagon - WIN

Ohio (-7.5) over Kansas, because they suck - WIN

Baylor (+14.5) over Duke. Wow, is Baylor really that bad? Surely they must have some talent left over from when they were a top 5 team not that long ago - LOSS

Central Michigan (+10 over Syracuse). They just whooped up on Big 12 powerhouse KU, so they should be able to hang w/ the Orangepeople - LOSS

Purdue (+7.5) over Mizzou. I don't really have an opinion on this game, but I figure I should make a pick since these are the two football teams I've probably seen the most in person, excluding ND. And Mizzou had to fire the DC, so things can't good in Columbia right now - WIN

TOB (1-9) – Yay, TOB got his first win!

Northwestern (-1.5) over Duke.  Yes, TOB picks ALL the big games.  This is simply a “Bottom of the Big 10 is better than the bottom of the ACC.” - LOSS

Auburn (+6.5) over Clemson.  Auburn is supposed to be the big challenger for Alabama this year.  If so, they better put up a good fight against Clemson here - LOSS

Western Kentucky (-7) over Illinois.  Illinois screwed me last week.  Get ‘em Hilltoppers - LOSS

Indiana (–2.5) over Virginia.  IU put up a good early fight against Ohio State, they may be a tough win for some of the Michigans – WIN!!!!

Ohio State (-7) over Oklahoma.  This line could be 14 and TOB would still take it.  OU will lose this one, then claw all the way back to the Big 12 Championship game claiming they deserve to be in the playoff.  TOB hates OU, there is no rational reason, but isn’t that what “sports hate” is all about? – LOSS

This week’s Picks

Cheech:

Houston (-6) over TX Tech, because my brother lives there.

Florida State (-12) over NC State. Seminoles haven't played since the Week 1 loss to 'Bama. Wolfpack are coming off back to back wins over nobodies. What does this mean? I don't know but I think the 'Pack keeps it close for 2 and a half quarters but loose by 2 touchdowns in the end.

Eastern Michigan (-2.5) over Ohio. Are you True EMU? I am!

Looks like I'm picking a lot of home favorites this week, even though everybody knows Week 4 is Upset Week

Alabama (-18.5) over Vandy. Vandy es no bueno.

Central Michigan (-1.5) over Miami, OH

TOB:

Texas A&M +2.5 over Arkansas.  TOB likes Arkansas in this one, time to go full Costanza this week!

CAL +17 over USC.  Again, TOB thinks USC should bounce back after a close win over Texas.  Go Bears!

OKST -13 over TCU.  Mike Gundy is a MAN!

Mississippi State -4 over Georgia.  Georgia snuck by ND the last weekend TOB watched CFB, that’s not a good sign.  MSU beat down LSU, which may not be that impressive this year but it was still quite a win.

IOWA +11.5 over Penn State.  TOB hasn’t watched a single snap of the Nittany Lions, because, well, Big 10.  IOWA is like the Wisconsin of the Big 10, they always hang around despite not really having any sort of recruitment advantage.  What’s that, Wisconsin is in the Big 10 too?  TOB prefers a good narrative to facts.

Bonus games to keep an eye on:

Auburn/Mizzou – Flame on!

Oklahoma/Baylor – Oklahoma could win by 50 in this one.

Notre Dame/Michigan State – Come on Irish!

Baseball article tomorrow, TOB has a game to win this afternoon!
