COLLEGE FOOTBALL - WEEK 9
Guess who’s back, back again. Abbreviated article today, TOB has a Halloween get together to prepare for / go to (half of this is being written on Friday night, the rest on Saturday morning). Also, TOB is going to have to miss bowling tomorrow, so sneaking in 3 games at the finest bowling establishment in STL (Crestwood Bowl) is going to happen. And now, a commercial that is currently getting under TOB’s skin:
https://www.ispot.tv/ad/dmE_/amazon-echo-show-cooking-together
This commercial has been going on for a while, and TOB has been annoyed with it ever since. This father helps talk his daughter through an improvised dinner after she burns her initial entrée, duck. After telling her a heartwarming story about how her mother cooked for him and it cemented their relationship, he simply asks for the gentleman caller’s name. Her response is to hang up rudely. TOB is rooting for this guy to nail and bail. This girl will use you for as long as she needs you, then drop you like a bad habit. See ya!
The TOB original segment, “Why are you still in my life?” will continue next week with the “General” Shaquille O’Neal. We will also set the record straight on traveling businessmen. How can allegedly (by their appearance only) successful people not understand how to put a suitcase in a bin? More details to follow.
We are getting closer to a full day of good games. Florida / SC was solid (until Florida pulled away late). Mizzou owes Wisconsin a gift basket for stealing “worst loss of the week and possibly the season” from them. BIG10 and SEC play are finally starting to put the big boys against each other…and it doesn’t appear the other conferences have more than one or two good teams. Good slate today, and they have staggered them perfectly. Great job Mizzou on that student athlete tweet also. You guys are crushing it.

· 13 Wisconsin +14.5 at Ohio State – A week ago, this line would have been 3.5. Wisconsin likely forgot they had a game last week, but it is still no excuse for a loss to perhaps one of the 10 worst teams in D1. They will have bounce back on their mind, and while they may not win outright, 14.5 seems like waaaaaay too much for a team that had an argument for best team in the country just 7 days ago.
· 9 Auburn at 2 LSU (-10) – LSU is in the middle of a gauntlet. Following this game, they go to Tuscaloosa to play #1 Bama. Auburn being ranked #9 should keep this from being a trap game. Auburn has looked decent (good wins over Oregon and A&M early), but lost the only real big game they had to Florida. Look for a tight first half, then LSU runs away similar to what they did to Florida (and covered 13.5)
· 9 Notre Dame (-1) at 19 Michigan – TOB hates this game, and hopefully has a few cocktails in him before kickoff. Michigan needs this game, Harbaugh is losing his god damned mind, sending letters to parents telling them that he isn’t planning an exit strategy. Did Michigan become Iraq all of a sudden? Get Rummy on the phone! Ian Book has looked great, really maturing this season, the Irish defense has played well, but this is a game that will give TOB fits. A win puts ND in a nice BCS bowl, a loss probably puts them somewhere in a Music City Bowl or Hawaii Bowl.
Further bitching/facts about the cupcake season (which may just be the season):

· Week 7 average margin of victory for top 5 teams: 15 – We finally had a top 5 loss!

· Week 9 average point spread top 5 teams: 23 – Lame
“Countdown Until Urban Meyer Takes a D1 Job.” Nothing new to report, other than Urban has told USC that he’s done coaching. Florida State shut down rumors that he may go there as well. However, keep in mind this article was written in 2011:
· UCLA – 5:1
· Tennessee – 3:1
· USC: 5:1
· Michigan: 20:1
· Michigan State: 10:1
· Remains analyst: 100:1

Let’s see how these Pro’s did. Keep in mind it cost me $200 to join; I then put $100 on each of these games to win $90.
Week 7: (4-1) – Current balance: $60 – Look at that, already made money! Let’s let it ride!
Week 8: (1-0) – 5-1 overall – Current balance: $150
Week 9:
· Navy -3.5 over Tulane (Dan Singer)
· USC -11.5 over Colorado (Dave Musto) – L (game played Friday night) – this guy is a real turd. Sent me an NFL, NBA, and MLB pick as well – he’s 0/4
· Texas -1 over TCU (William Turner) – Possibly Bootstrap Bill Turner from “Pirates of the Caribbean” fame
· Wyoming -14 over Nevada (Bootstrap Bill)
· Southern Miss -9.5 over Rice (Bootstrap Bill)
· Louisiana Tech -20.5 over UTEP (Bootstrap Bill)
Glad to see those dummies are back to sending me free info. I have yet to use it; maybe next year if they end up turning a profit…just kidding…not really.
Tomorrow will get a lot of play for being some sort of a golden sports day with the NFL, NBA, NHL, and MLB all having games. This happens once, sometimes more every year (depending on the World Series schedule). It just so happens that this year there are no World Series games on Thursday or Monday, making Sunday the only day. TOB would argue today is the better day, CFB > NFL! Off to make and display my simple, but effective, costume.
Go Irish, Go Nats. Have a nice little Naturday…
